What Is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time-management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. You work in focused 25-minute intervals called pomodoros, separated by 5-minute short breaks. After completing four pomodoros, you take a longer 15-minute break.

Why It Works

  • Breaks large tasks into manageable time blocks.
  • Reduces mental fatigue through regular rest.
  • Creates urgency that combats procrastination.
  • Tracks your daily productivity over time.

Customizing Your Pomodoro

Click the Settings gear to adjust work duration, short break, and long break lengths. Many practitioners prefer 50-minute work plus a 10-minute break for deep work sessions.
